Working from his home studio in Rochester, New York, Frank Argento is known for his contemporary figurative art, award winning graphic design and for being a Professor of Art at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

A native of Rochester, Frank has always loved people, pop culture, and animals. A keen observer and appreciation of aesthetic theory have given him the courage to play with a range of media and styles.

“Although my favorite tool is the pencil, I’m equally comfortable with pastels, oils and acrylics. What I’m after is transformative, expressionistic, spontaneity, the gesture and spirit of the image. I like to express my feelings about life imaginatively, while combining realism with fantasy.”

Frank earned both a bachelors and masters degree in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology. He joined RIT in 1965 and has held various positions in instructional design, research and technology and teaching. At the same time he founded his own design and media companies, which later developed into a full-service advertising agency. His creativity and talent have earned him more than a dozen awards, including national recognition for excellence in design. As a teacher, he shared his passion and enthusiasm for design, photography and illustration with his students.
